InterDigital said it has reached a patent license deal with Amazon.com that covers Prime Video and other Amazon services and devices.

The intellectual-property and research company, which holds patents for technologies behind wireless communications and video streaming, said the agreement resolves pending patent-infringement litigation it had against Amazon related to digital video compression and its content-delivery network infrastructure.

InterDigital and Amazon will enter binding arbitration to determine the final terms of their new agreement, InterDigital said.

"This agreement is an important milestone in InterDigital's longer-term goal to expand into video streaming services licensing and is recognition of the importance of our foundational technology in devices and services," Chief Licensing Officer Julia Mattis said.
