DoorDash is launching a new artificial-intelligence feature that allows users to search for restaurants, groceries and meals using conversational prompts.
The offering, called Ask DoorDash, enables users to describe what they want and tailor results to fit specific criteria such as cuisine type, dietary preferences or the size of a group placing an order.
"We've spent over a decade building an app that puts everything in your city at your fingertips, but more options shouldn't mean more work," Co-Founder Andy Fang said Thursday. "Now you can search DoorDash in your own words to find exactly what you want."
Ask DoorDash will refine recommendations in real time and provide personalized explanations for why restaurants, meals or products match a user's request, the delivery company said.
Users will additionally be able to upload recipes and grocery lists to receive recommended items and prebuilt shopping carts. DoorDash said reservation-booking capabilities will be added in the coming weeks.
