Singapore Banks' Recent Stock Drops Might Be Overdone -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-12 12:06

0406 GMT - Recent drops in shares of Singapore banks might be overdone, says Maybank analyst Thilan Wickramasinghe in a note. Shares of DBS Group, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. and United Overseas Bank dropped recently amid fears about slower growth in their wealth management business due to changes in Chinese outbound investment regulations. There could be negative impact on near-term investment flows to Hong Kong, he says. However, Asean makes up a larger part the banks' assets under management, he notes. Maybank maintains a positive rating on Singapore's banking sector. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
