Advanced Micro Devices acquired Mext, whose technology is expected to address memory-related bottlenecks across cloud and enterprise environments.

Mext's AI-powered predictive memory technology is "designed to make flash behave more like DRAM, helping expand usable memory capacity while maintaining performance and efficiency," AMD said.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Mext was founded in 2023. Investors include Clear Ventures.

AMD's announcement didn't state the deal price.

According to Mext's website, its technology makes flash storage appear as DRAM-speed memory to the operating system, helping to reduce computing costs and power consumption.

AMD shares were recently up 7% to $548.45, outpacing the gains of Intel and Nvidia amid broader stock increases after the U.S. and Iran agreed on an interim peace deal.
