Amazon.com plans to invest several billion dollars into a data center campus in Missouri.
The company said Monday the project will support cloud computing technologies and is expected to create more than 400 full-time data center jobs, as well as thousands of construction jobs.
Amazon said it worked with a local utility, Ameren Missouri, to ensure the costs associated with the new data center campus are not passed on to other ratepayers' electric bills.
The company also said it has invested in a carbon-free energy project in Missouri to increase overall energy supply and support long-term electricity affordability across the region. It is also investing to build water infrastructure needed to build and operate the facilities.
