NetEase Cloud Music Shares Appear Deeply Undervalued After Selloff -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-15

0358 GMT - NetEase Cloud Music's shares appear deeply undervalued to Morningstar's Ivan Su after its share-price roughly halved over the past year on investors pricing in market share losses. While a report states rival Soda Music's monthly-active users have surpassed NetEase Cloud's for the first time, Su believes Bytedance-linked Soda's gains are concentrated in free, advertising-supported users, which typically contribute little to such music services' profitability. NetEase Cloud's shares currently trade around one-third of Morningstar's valuation and imply a structural erosion of the Chinese music streaming platform's subscribers and pricing power, which seems too pessimistic, the analyst says. Morningstar maintains its fair-value estimate of 340.00 Hong Kong dollars. Shares are down 2.3% at HK$117.89. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
