Hong Kong's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3.7% for the March to May period, according to data from the Census and Statistics Department released on Tuesday.

The reading matched the Trading Economics forecast of 3.7% and was unchanged from the previous three-month period.

The underemployment rate also remained unchanged at 1.5%. Total employment fell by around 8,700 to 3.6 million people, while the number of unemployed individuals grew by 1,900 to 141,100.

Hong Kong Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun noted that the city's government continued to monitor external uncertainties and their potential implications on the local economy. Nonetheless, Sun said the ongoing economic expansion should continue to render support to the overall labor market.
