AstraZeneca Faces Low Bar for Success in Key Lung-Cancer Trial -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-16

1249 GMT - AstraZeneca's upcoming results of a late-stage clinical study for a lung-cancer therapy have a low bar for success, Jefferies analysts say in a research note. The trial results are the next key item to watch for the U.K. drugmaker after it recently reported positive data for an experimental obesity medicine, the analysts say. The lung-cancer trial evaluates a combination of AstraZeneca's cancer drugs Datroway and Imfinzi, and its chances of success are reinforced by recent positive data from a rival treatment, Jefferies says. Another rival treatment failed in late-stage trials, but Datroway has stronger efficacy signals and a more favorable tolerability profile, the analysts say.
