DTE Energy (DTE) received a $1.6 billion loan from the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Dominance Financing to help lower energy costs in Michigan and modernize natural gas infrastructure, the Department of Energy said Monday in a statement.

DTE Gas will deliver over $700 million in cost savings to millions of customers in Michigan, which the department said is made possible by President Trump's Working Families Tax Cut.

The loan will be used to modernize and strengthen approximately 800 miles of distribution mains and service lines, according to the statement.
