Paramount Skydance's (PSKY) bid for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) cleared federal antitrust review after Justice Department senior leadership closed its investigation even as staff investigators leaned toward recommending a legal challenge, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Paramount executives told employees to prepare to close the transaction as early as the end of July, though California Attorney General Rob Bonta may challenge the deal, which also faces an antitrust review in Europe, the report said.
Paramount and the Justice Department didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
