Gogo (GOGO) said Tuesday that its SD Government unit has obtained a supplemental type certificate approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration to install the Gogo Galileo HDX connectivity system on Pilatus PC-12 turboprop.
The hardware uses a low-earth-orbit satellite network, enabling high-speed, low-latency internet services, and the first upgraded plane is scheduled to re-enter service shortly under a federal contract providing communications to a government agency, the company said.
Special missions operators can use the antenna to stream time-sensitive data like high-definition video and secure chat profiles, the company said.
