Veon (VEON) said Tuesday its local financial businesses introduced a feature allowing users to buy government treasury bills in Pakistan through a smartphone application.

The service allows account holders to invest in three-month public financial instruments starting at 5,000 Pakistani rupees ($18), the company said.

The digital channel works in partnership with the national finance ministry and central banking authority, and will handle asset security by serving as the regulated custodian and trustee for the program, Veon said.
