CervoMed (CRVO) received a notice of allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office related to a patent application for the use of its drug candidate, neflamapimod, for the treatment of dementia with Lewy bodies, the company said Thursday.
The patent is expected to cover the treatment of dementia with Lewy bodies without substantial Alzheimer's disease-like tau pathology and is expected to provide intellectual property protection into 2042, with the potential for additional patent term extension, CervoMed said.
CervoMed said there are currently no approved treatments for dementia with Lewy bodies in the United States or the European Union.
Shares of CervoMed were up more than 5% in Thursday pre-bell activity.
