U.S. Futures Up, European Stocks Mixed

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.8% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.5%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 fell 0.2% in morning trading. Edenred rose 13.5% and Infineon Technologies added 4.1%. On the other hand, Lanxess slipped 5%, and Carrefour dropped 4.2%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.8%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.1% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.1% to 96.69.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 1.7% to $78.20 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 2.5% to $74.85 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 3.3% to 40.54 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield was flat at 2.929%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 6 basis points to 4.444% from 4.5%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 1.6%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 2.2%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.4%.
