SpaceX appointed Roelof Botha to its board as an independent common stock director and named him to its audit committee, effective immediately.

Botha, who has been with Sequoia Capital since 2003, is the former chief financial officer at PayPal and brings extensive public company and audit experience, SpaceX said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Wednesday.

SpaceX's non-employee directors do not currently receive cash or equity pay for board service. The company will enter into a standard indemnification agreement with Botha.

The appointment follows SpaceX's June 12 market debut, which raised $75 billion and closed its first day of trading with a roughly $2.1 trillion market cap. The company was valued at $2.66 trillion at the close of trading on Wednesday.
