Uber Technologies (UBER) has expanded into Nepal's ride-hailing sector through a recent soft launch of its automobile and motorcycle options, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing regional partners and competitors.
The company is working with local fleet vendors to register drivers, and 6,000 drivers have already signed up for the service and will receive a commission waiver during the first six months of business, the report said.
Uber is entering a crowded sector of around 30 existing ride-hailing platforms that are operating, the report said.
Uber did not immediately respond to an MT Newswires request for comment.
