Exxon Mobil (XOM) has a preliminary deal to supply liquefied natural gas to South Africa, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

State utility Eskom Holdings will be poised to import gas at the proposed Zululand LNG terminal in Richards Bay, with the fuel destined for a 3,000-megawatt power plant nearby that has yet to be built, the report said.

Exxon Mobil did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
