Market Chatter: Ferrari Reportedly Ties EV Purchases to Access to Exclusive Models

MT Newswires Live06-17

Ferrari (RACE) is encouraging some clients to buy its new Luce electric vehicle as a way to improve access to future limited-edition models, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The report said Ferrari has indicated to certain collectors and prospective buyers that purchasing the approximately 550,000 euros ($638,000) EV could help strengthen their standing with the automaker and preserve access to sought-after vehicles.

Ferrari said buyers of limited-edition cars are selected based on long-term relationships and personal connections to specific models rather than whether a purchase improves a customer's ranking, according to the report.

The strategy follows mixed reactions to the Luce's debut last month, with some collectors criticizing the vehicle's design, the report said.
