LPL Financial has brought on board a large Texas financial advisory team from MassMutual. LPL announced on Tuesday that Spectrum Wealth Strategies has joined its broker-dealer and registered investment advisory platform.
The team, based in Dallas with offices in Waco, Texas, and Wilmington, N.C., caters to high-earning individuals and families, according to LPL. The client base is varied, including business owners, corporate employees, and retirees. Seven of the 10 advisors on the team hold the Certified Financial Planner credential.
"Our goal is to meet clients where they are and help guide them to where they want to go," says Jonathan Bomar, one of the CFPs on the team. "We build comprehensive financial plans that evolve alongside our clients, with a focus on long-term partnership and helping them make informed decisions throughout life."
MassMutual didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the departure.
In addition to Bomar, the other lead advisors on the team are Randy Black, Truman Blocker, Landon Vaughan, Weston Poulos, Billy Geiler, Jeff Cummins, and Jaime Galvan. The team also includes associate advisors Stephen Luna and Matthew Galvan.
Another big team. Spectrum is at least the second billion-dollar-plus recruiting win that LPL has announced this month. On June 4, LPL announced the addition of the $2 billion Align Private Wealth team, though that advisory group had joined from PNC Private Bank earlier in the spring. The Spectrum team registered with LPL on June 3, according to regulatory records.
Bomar says the team opted to affiliate with LPL for the independence the firm offers advisors on the platform, as well as the research and back-office support it provides to its advisory teams.
At MassMutual, the Spectrum team oversaw clients' assets in advisory, brokerage, and retirement accounts. The practice's leaders describe a team-based approach in which advisors work collaboratively in support of clients.
"We believe our strength lies in having someone on our team who can serve each client's unique needs," Blocker says. "Our core competency is delivering financial planning for life -- supporting clients through every stage and helping them stay on track toward their goals."
