President Donald Trump, in an interview with The Axios Show, said Friday that he briefly viewed Amazon.com (AMZN)-backed Anthropic as a national security concern before relations between the company and the White House began to stabilize.

Trump described the situation as evolving quickly, noting that earlier government assessments had raised alarms about the company's advanced AI systems amid broader debates over security risks, export controls, and potential exposure to foreign access, the report said.

According to the report, Trump also cited internal concerns triggered by third-party reporting of a technical vulnerability, which escalated discussions between regulators and Anthropic leadership. Those talks have since shifted toward developing shared safety evaluation standards, it said.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
