Shares of Getty Images more than doubled after the company disclosed a display agreement with OpenAI.

The stock jumped 171%, to $1.64 a share, in premarket trading Monday. Through Friday's close, shares have lost more than half of their value since the beginning of the year.

Under the partnership agreement, Getty said its licensed content libraries will appear across OpenAI search and discovery experiences within ChatGPT, enabling the use of Getty's content within the artificial-intelligence platform.

"High-quality, licensed visual content makes AI-powered search and discovery more useful and more trustworthy," Getty Chief Executive Craig Peters said. "This partnership with OpenAI reflects a shared recognition of that, and together we will deliver richer visual experiences to ChatGPT users."
