Under the Radar: Definium Shares Propelled by Strong Psychedelic Results -- WSJ

Dow Jones06-23

By Xavier Martinez

Shares of Definium Therapeutics surged 50% on Monday after the biotech announced that a single dose of its LSD drug significantly eased symptoms of depression in a late-stage trial.

The drug, called DT120, beat a placebo by 8.1 points on a 60-point depression scale doctors use to track symptoms, six weeks after a single dose. The benefit held at the three-month mark.

DT120 is a pharmaceutically formulated version of LSD that dissolves on the tongue. It is part of a wave of psychedelic drugs-which also include psilocybin and MDMA-that researchers are testing to treat mental-health conditions. President Trump signed an executive order aimed at speeding up research and development for psychedelic drugs in April.

Stifel analysts said the results "exceeded expectations with clear and highly robust efficacy" in a research note.
