Phathom Pharmaceuticals (PHAT) said Tuesday it has completed the enrollment in its phase 2 clinical trial evaluating Voquezna, or vonoprazan, as a potential treatment for eosinophilic esophagitis, a chronic inflammatory disease of the esophagus.
The study enrolled 95 adult patients across 41 US clinical sites and is assessing the drug as a non-steroidal oral therapy. Topline results are expected in Q4, the company said.
Phathom said the trial could help determine whether its acid suppression therapy offers a new treatment approach for patients who currently rely on proton pump inhibitors, which are not approved for the condition.
If the results are positive, the company said it plans to engage with US regulators on further development, including potential pediatric studies and broader indications.
