STMicroelectronics (STM) said Wednesday that it has launched the ST54M, a secure mobile chip designed to help smartphone and electronics makers prepare for post-quantum cryptography requirements while integrating NFC, secure element and eSIM functions in a single device.
The chip includes a hardware accelerator for post-quantum cryptography algorithms and is aimed at enabling secure applications such as digital payments, identity credentials, transit systems, and digital car keys, it said.
ST added that the platform is designed to support the industry's expected transition to quantum-resistant security standards by around 2030.
The ST54M is already available for sampling, with production and certification targeted for July 2026, the company said.
