Grindr named Chief Executive Officer George Arison chairman of its board of directors, effective June 23.

Arison succeeds J. Michael Gearon, Jr., who will continue to serve as lead independent director, the company said Tuesday.

Gearon said that under Arison's leadership, the company had more than doubled its revenue since 2022. He added that Arison would be the LGBTQ+ dating app company's first gay chairman.

Arison said that he will continue to focus on building an AI-first platform to strengthen the business.

The company also granted Arison a new equity award of nearly 2.3 million shares of restricted stock.
