Citizens Financial Group hired a former Morgan Stanley advisor team that specializes in serving professional athletes and entertainers. The advisors previously managed approximately $800 million in client assets, according to Citizens, a Providence, R.I.-based banking company.

The team is led by David Snyder, Darren Wald, and Trevor Wade. They join Citizens in Santa Monica, Calif., where they will help the bank expand its private wealth management business.

"Southern California continues to be an important growth market for us, and this team builds on the strong foundation we've established in Newport Beach and Manhattan Beach," says Paul Casey, head of Citizens Wealth Management. "Their deep experience working with athletes, entertainers, and other professionals is especially meaningful in a region where these industries are deeply embedded, and strengthens our ability to deliver highly tailored, thoughtful advice."

Snyder has been an advisor since 1988, according to BrokerCheck, a public database maintained by industry self-regulatory organization Finra. He registered with Morgan Stanley in 2007. Wald started his career at Smith Barney in 1995; he also joined Morgan Stanley in 2007. Wade began his career at Morgan Stanley in 2021.

In addition to serving athletes and entertainers, the team also works with entrepreneurs. Citizens says the advisors will work closely with colleagues in Citizens' Los Angeles Private Bank offices.

The company has been striving to expand its wealth management offering, an effort that has also entailed hiring more advisors and more private bankers. Citizens Wealth Management, the company's wealth unit, had approximately $34 billion of client assets at the end of last year.

Citizens said in May it had hired two executives to help with its push to serve high- and ultrahigh-net-worth clients: Joe Roberts as Head of Family Office Solutions within Citizens Wealth; and Adam Devlin as Head of Platform Transformation across Citizens Private Bank and Citizens Wealth. Roberts joined Citizens from Rockefeller Capital Management, and Devlin joined from JPMorgan Chase.

Citizens has approximately 1,000 bank branches in 14 states and the District of Columbia.
