Newmont (NEM) has received regulatory approval from the Province of British Columbia for the Red Chris Block Cave project, the company said late Friday.
The approval allows the project's mine life to be extended into mid-2040s, Newmont said.
The company expects to come up with a final investment decision on the project later in 2026.
The project is expected to create more than 1,800 construction jobs and support about 1,500 peak-season operating roles.
