IBADAN, Nigeria - Libya's oil production has hit its highest level since 2013 with crude and condensate production reaching 1.49 million b/d, according to the country's National Oil Corporation, or NOC.
The NOC said crude oil production hit 1.44 million b/d on Sunday, while condensate production stood at 49,163 b/d, bringing total daily output to 1.49 million bbl.
"This marks the highest production level since 2013, bringing the corporation closer to its previously announced goal of producing 1.5 million barrels of crude oil per day, the NOC said in a statement Sunday.
The production strengthens Libya's position among Africa`s top oil producers alongside Nigeria, Algeria and Angola.
Masoud Suleman, NOC's board of director chairman, at a meeting in Tripoli on Sunday, praised the achievements of local companies and the efforts of all employees in their different specialties and roles.
He said their unwavering dedication was "essential to reaching this result, especially in light of the difficult circumstances and challenges the NOC currently faces."
Suleman said NOC employees "need to keep up the same pace and determination in order to reach the required production rate before the end of 2026, supporting the Libyan economy and helping achieve the economic revival that all Libyans aspire to."
Libya's oil production is boosted by the efforts of the NOC and international oil companies returning to the oil sector after years of conflict and instability.
