Moderna shares rallied after it revealed development of potential autoimmune treatments. The program is part of Moderna's efforts to diversify following a struggle with its vaccine program in the wake of Covid-19 successes.

Eli Lilly shares soared to all-time highs after European regulators issued a recommendation for its Jaypirca product as a treatment for a strain of leukemia.

European Union officials opened an antitrust probe into Sanofi to assess whether the French drugmaker's marketing campaign for a flu vaccine breached competition rules.
