MDA Space (MDA) will provide digital payload, antennas and subsystems for Japan's defense communications satellite program under contracts from Mitsubishi Electric, the company said Thursday.
The satellite program, ordered by Japan's Ministry of Defense, will replace the DSN-2 satellite in geostationary orbit, it said.
MDA said its UK operations will provide digital beamforming technology, while its Montreal facility will manufacture and test antenna systems and other components. Mitsubishi Electric will perform final assembly, integration and testing in Japan.
The company said the contract will be added to its backlog in Q2.
