Consumer stocks were higher late Friday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) increasing 0.9% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) adding 0.8%.
In corporate news, Lukas Walton, an heir to the Walmart (WMT) fortune, and his wife, Samantha, are buying a minority stake in the National Basketball Association's Chicago Bulls, Bloomberg reported. Walmart shares were up 0.6%.
