Singapore's Central Bank Likely to Tighten Policy in October
Dow Jones06-25
0349 GMT - The Monetary Authority of Singapore is likely to tighten its policy in October instead of July, HSBC economists say in a note. The city-state's inflation has been well-behaved, despite the energy shock. However, the impact from higher oil prices is likely to be more evident from 3Q, as there is usually a quarter's lag from global energy prices to core inflation. The MAS is more likely to take its time to assess the inflation's impact, rather than resort to a back-to-back tightening move next month, HSBC says.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
