WestJet Airlines and Air Canada are adding flight capacity to Houston ahead of Canada's FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match against the Netherlands or Morocco on July 4, Bloomberg reported Monday.
WestJet said it will deploy larger aircraft on eight flights between Calgary and Houston in the days surrounding the match, adding up to 42 extra seats per flight, the report said.
Air Canada has increased capacity on a July 3 Toronto-Houston flight and is evaluating further additions, Bloomberg said.
Canada secured its first-ever World Cup Round of 16 berth with a 1-0 victory over South Africa on Sunday.
Air Canada and WestJet did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
