Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google has placed limits on Meta Platforms' (META) use of its Gemini AI models after the social media company requested more computing capacity than Google could provide, the Financial Times reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Google informed Meta around March that it could not meet all of its Gemini capacity requests, delaying some internal AI projects and prompting the company to curb AI token usage to manage costs, the report said.
The limits highlight mounting infrastructure bottlenecks across the AI industry despite significant spending on chips and data centers, the report added.
Alphabet and Meta Platforms did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
