Ford Motor is recalling certain vehicles over concerns that their transmission park pawl may engage while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in damage to their park system.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Association said damage to the park system may result in a vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall covers roughly 741,000 vehicles, including Ford Navigator models manufactured between 2018 and 2021, Ford Explorer models manufactured between 2020 and 2021, and Ford F-150 models manufactured in 2021, the regulator said.
It also covers Ford Expedition and Ford Lincoln Aviator models.
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software, as well as inspect and replace any damaged transmission components as necessary and free of charge, the NHTSA said.
