BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (BCRX) said Monday it will discontinue its internal discovery programs and close its discovery center of excellence facility in Birmingham, Alabama, by the end of 2026 to prioritize external innovation and accelerate a rare disease pipeline.
The company said it made the decision after a strategic review and scientific diligence of its research capabilities, programs and priorities.
BioCryst said two clinical-stage programs that it will focus on advancing toward commercialization are navenibart for potential prophylaxis of hereditary angioedema, and BCX17725, an investigational KLK5 inhibitor for Netherton syndrome.
The company also said it has resolved a manufacturing delay and now expects Orladeyo oral pellets for patients 2 to under 12 years old to be available in early August.
BioCryst said it continues to expect full-year revenue of $635 million to $660 million, while analysts polled by FactSet expect $671 million. The company now expects full-year 2026 non-GAAP operating expenses of $420 million to $440 million, compared with prior guidance of $450 million to $470 million.
Shares of BioCryst were down more than 1% in pre-bell activity Monday.
