European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise Sharply in Thursday Trading

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were sharply higher late Thursday morning, advancing 2.21% to 1,927.62 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and biotech firm Evaxion (EVAX), which climbed 14% and 6.9% respectively. They were followed by biotech company BioNTech (BNTX) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT), which advanced 4.5% and 4.1% respectively.

The only decliners from continental Europe were telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and medical device maker EDAP (FOCL), which were down 1% and 0.8% respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and NuCana (NCNA), which rose 8.6% and 6.6% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which were up 4.8% and 3.7% respectively.

The only decliners from the UK and Ireland were biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and Amarin (AMRN), which were off 1% and 0.3% respectively.
