Warsh Declines to Say Whether Fed Will Raise Rates in July
Dow Jones07-01 21:17
Kevin Warsh dodged questions about whether the Fed could raise rates at the central bank's July meeting.
"I want us to have a good family fight when we meet in four weeks," he said. "When we get into that room and shut the door, we're going to have a good debate. But I don't have much more for you."
Warsh was speaking at the European Central Bank's annual policy symposium in Sintra, Portugal, in his first public appearance since his debut Fed press conference last month. Investors have moved to price in more rate-hikes from the Fed since then, but markets are pricing in less than a 50% chance that the first rate-increase will come this month.
