Microsoft (MSFT) layoffs at Xbox may lead to the closure of at least five studios, spinoffs, mergers and canceled games, The Verge reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with Microsoft's plans.
Microsoft is weighing canceling Arkane's Blade game and is exploring a sale of the France-based studio, the report said.
Several other developers, including Compulsion Games, Double Fine, Ninja Theory and Undead Labs, are also being reportedly considered for spinoffs or sales, The Verge said.
The job cuts, expected to begin Monday, may affect at least 1,000 employees, the report said.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
