Investors eager to own and trade the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 stock index are getting a larger and potentially cheaper lineup of exchange-traded funds to choose from. On Wednesday, the State Street SPDR Portfolio Nasdaq 100 ETF launched. Until now, Invesco QQQ Trust Series I ETF has been the go-to option for many Nasdaq 100 investors. BlackRock is also poised to join the fray.

Vanguard hires T. Rowe Price . Vanguard is adding T. Rowe Price as an advisor to three active equity funds, tasking its fellow asset manager known for its stock-picking expertise with overseeing a piece of each fund's portfolio. Effective June 29, T. Rowe Price is serving as an advisor to the Vanguard Explorer Fund, Vanguard Variable Insurance Fund -- Small Company Growth Portfolio, and Vanguard Growth and Income Fund. It's the first time that Vanguard has turned to T. Rowe Price to help manage some of its active equity funds.
ETF lineup for Trump accounts unveiled . The Department of the Treasury announced the fund lineup for Trump Accounts, giving parents access to five low-cost U.S. equity index funds. One problem: the five funds are so similar that it effectively limits opportunities for investors to diversify. Trump Accounts, which launch July 4, offer parents another tax-advantaged investment account in addition to popular 529 plans for college savings. Newborns from 2025 through 2028 get $1,000, courtesy of the U.S. Treasury.
Rich families need to talk more . New research shows that many high-net-worth families don't define goals for their wealth, leading to missed opportunities for involving the next generation in money discussions. More than 70% haven't engaged, or haven't fully engaged, younger family members, according to early findings from the most recent AlTi Tiedemann Global and Campden Wealth Family Office Operational Excellence Report. That suggests subsequent conversations about wealth also aren't happening.
Some clients need a life coach . The wealth management industry has spent a decade insisting the advisor relationship is also a human one. That's true, but sometimes clients also need the skills of a life coach to help them navigate major transitions. "I am not suggesting every RIA immediately hire a life coach, but I do think firms should honestly evaluate what they are asking advisors to do and whether they have actually built the infrastructure to support it," writes columnist Andy Schwartz, CEO at OnePoint BFG Wealth Partners.
Commonwealth sued over sweeps . A client is suing Commonwealth Financial Network, accusing the wealth management company of breach of fiduciary duty for paying customers low interest on their uninvested cash in so-called sweep accounts. The client is seeking class action status on behalf of himself and other customers and asking the court for monetary compensation. A spokeswoman for LPL Financial, which bought Commonwealth last year, declined to comment on the lawsuit.
