Hong Kong Stocks Slip at Open Despite Wall Street Rally

MT Newswires Live09:49

Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Tuesday as investors took profits following the previous session's rally, despite a positive lead from Wall Street.

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.2%, or 47.83 points, to 23,568.49, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.4%, or 31.81 points, to 7,780.54.

All three major U.S. indexes ended higher overnight, led by the Nasdaq, as investors welcomed developments in the AI and semiconductor sectors ahead of the corporate earnings season.

Oil prices remained near pre-Iran conflict levels, easing inflation concerns and supporting broader risk appetite. Even so, Hong Kong equities came under pressure as investors locked in gains after the previous session's advance.
