A total of 42 million viewers watched the USA-Belgium World Cup match across US media outlets, setting records for the sport, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.
About 30 million people watched Monday night's game on Fox channels, making it the most-watched soccer telecast in US history, according to the network, while another 12 million viewed the Spanish-language broadcast on Comcast's Telemundo and Peacock, which the company said was on track to be the highest-rated Team USA soccer match in Spanish-language history, the reports said.
Belgium defeated the US 4-1, eliminating the American team from the tournament, which runs through July 19.
