Vedanta Aluminium Metal (NSE:VAML, BOM:544780) recorded its highest-ever quarterly aluminium production in the fiscal first quarter ended June 30, according to a Friday filing to the Indian stock exchanges.

For the June quarter, the company's aluminium production reached a record 632,000 tons, up 5% from 605,000 tons a year ago. The company attributed the surge to output volumes from its new smelter, augmented by the operational efficiency of existing lines.

Alumina production rose 41% in the reported period to 826,000 tons due to higher volumes from expansion, from 587,000 tons a year earlier. Value-added production was also at its highest levels with a 14% growth to 389,000 tons in April-June from 342,000 a year ago.
