MT Newswires Live07-07

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) said Monday that Halimar Shipyard in Morgan City, Louisiana, has joined its network of strategic partners working on production of its ROMULUS unmanned surface vessel, or USV, program.

Halimar will build complete ROMULUS 151 vessels and support serial production alongside Breaux Brothers Enterprises, where five units are already under construction, the company added.

The collaboration is expected to speed up production, expand capacity, and help meet rising demand from the US Navy and allied forces for autonomous maritime systems, the Huntington Ingalls said.

ROMULUS is a modular family of artificial intelligence-backed USVs designed for missions, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, according to the statement.
