Meta (META) is piloting a prototype of "super sensing" artificial intelligence glasses equipped with cameras and audio tools designed to capture a wearer's surroundings, The Financial Times reported Wednesday, citing multiple people familiar with the matter.
Unlike its current products, the company is currently planning not to activate the LED indicator when these functions are being used, the news outlet quoted the people as saying.
The new features could also be deployed to existing glasses through a software update and would upload extracted metadata to servers instead of storing raw footage, the FT reported.
Shares of the company were down 2% in Wednesday premarket activity.
Meta Platforms did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
