The Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 Index were up in late-morning trading Monday, as tech stocks rose broadly to kick off the new trading week.
In company news, Solstice Advanced Materials (SOLS) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Element Solutions (ESI) in a cash-and-stock deal valued at about $14.5 billion, including the assumption of net debt, the companies said Monday. Under the terms of the deal, Element shareholders will receive $10 in cash and 0.500 shares of Solstice common stock for each share of Element they own, representing a premium of about 15% over Element's closing share price of July 2, according to a statement. The deal is expected to close in H1 2027, with Element shareholders expected to own about 44% of the combined company, the companies said. Solstice and Element shares were down 13.6% and 2.1% respectively around midday.
TeraWulf (WULF) said Monday it has entered into a 20-year lease agreement with Anthropic for the AI company to use its Justified Data campus in Hawesville, Kentucky. The lease is expected to generate about $19 billion of contracted revenue over the initial lease term, TeraWulf said. TeraWulf shares were up 11%.
Broadcom (AVGO) said Monday in a regulatory filing it has entered into new multi-year agreements with Apple (AAPL) to develop and supply it with a range of custom application-specific integrated circuit silicon products for use in multiple generations of its products. Broadcom shares were up 3.8%, while Apple shares were up 1.5%.
Microsoft (MSFT) said Monday it is eliminating 2.1% of its global workforce, or about 4,800 roles. Microsoft shares were down 1%.
Rogers Communications (RCI) said Monday it has signed an agreement to purchase the remaining 25% ownership stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment from Kilmer Sports for 4.35 billion Canadian dollars ($3.06 billion), making it the 100% owner of the company. Rogers said it expects the deal to close in Q4, subject to league approvals. Rogers shares were up 2.4%.
Lockheed Martin (LMT) said Monday it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ultra Maritime Solutions for $3.45 billion. Lockheed shares were down 1.9%.
President Donald Trump told people to "go out and buy a Dell" (DELL) during the first-ever White House opening bell following the launch of Trump accounts, according to media reports. Dell shares were up 6%.
