DeepSeek is developing its own artificial intelligence chip in a bid to reduce dependence on chips from Nvidia and Huawei, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing three people familiar with the matter.
The chip will be used for inference, a process in which an AI model generates responses for users, the report said.
Should DeepSeek succeed, it could mark a shift for the Hangzhou-based company and add to Huawei's challenges, the report said.
DeepSeek did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
