L'oreal License Switch Ahead of Time is Good News for Gucci

Dow Jones07-08

1023 GMT - Gucci should benefit from an early take-up of its beauty license by L'Oreal, Equita Sim's Paola Carboni writes in a note. Kering, the group that owns the heavyweight fashion brand, said it is transferring the license to sell Gucci-branded beauty products to L'Oreal a year early after reaching an agreement with current license holder Coty. The faster transition should allow Gucci to benefit from L'Oreal's expertise and scale, Carboni says, noting the French beauty company's marketing firepower and global distribution networks. "Positive effects are expected in the medium term for the visibility and desirability of the Gucci brand," she says. Kering shares are down 3.5% at 243.30 euros in late morning trade in Paris.
