Brookdale Senior Living Shares Fall on 2Q, June Occupancy Rates

Shares of Brookdale Senior Living fell after the company reported occupancy numbers for the month of June and the second quarter.

Shares fell 6.5% to $14.29 in after-hours trading Thursday after closing up 1.8% at $15.28 during the regular trading session. At the close, the stock had gained 42% this year.

The company on Thursday said its June weighted average occupancy rate was up 200 basis points year over year to 82.5%. The same community occupancy rate averaged 83% for the month, up 90 basis points year over year.

For the full second quarter, the company reported an 82.4% weighted average occupancy rate, up 230 basis points year over year and 30 basis points since the first quarter.
