Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI said Thursday it launched ChatGPT Work, an automation tool designed to execute multi-step tasks across external applications and digital documents.

The platform runs on the new GPT-5.6 model, which consists of the Sol flagship tier along with the mid-tier Terra and the low-tier Luna options, the company said.

The new version incorporates a scheduling function for recurring workflows and comes with an updated desktop application that can manage local computer functions directly, OpenAI said.

The organization merged its Codex programming application into the primary desktop product to centralize development operations, it said.

The company also said that for every 1 million tokens, the flagship Sol model costs $5 for input and $30 for output, while the mid-range Terra model costs $2.50 for input and $15 for output, and the Luna tier costs $1 for input and $6 for output.
